Grilled Cheese – An Ultimate Comfort Food

You’ve heard of wine connoisseurs, art connoisseurs, and music connoisseurs.

 Our cheese loving Social Media Manager, Jonathan is a grilled cheese connoisseur.  And without the pretension and snobby-ness that goes with being a connoisseur.

To help you celebrate National Grilled Cheese month, he shares with you his gooey and delicious favorites.

1. The classic

Two slices cheddar, Monterey jack or Swiss cheese between 2 slices country white bread; cook, flipping once, until golden.

2. The should be classic

Bacon and Tomato: Make Classic Grilled Cheese (No. 1), adding 3 slices crisp bacon and 1 slice tomato between the cheese.

3. Grilled cheese with apple and spice

Make Classic Grilled Cheese (No. 1) but replace the regular cheddar with aged cheddar. Add a sprinkle of parmesan cheese, sliced apples, and dash of hot sauce.

4. Crunchy grilled ham and cheese

Grilled ham and cheese is a another standard. Kick it up a notch with pickles and some chipotle mayo. Toss in a handful of salted potato chips and you have a crunchy- cheesy- salty- spicy- sandwich of your dreams. 

5. Bacon and egg grilled cheese with caramelized onions

Who says you can’t have a grilled cheese sandwich for breakfast? The addition of bacon and eggs is all you need to call it breakfast.  And it adds a great protein boost to start your day.
